<p data-pasted="true"><strong>PROMOTIONAL OPPORTUNITY OPEN TO CURRENT CITY OF PASADENA EMPLOYEES ONLY</strong></p><p data-start="0" data-end="176" data-pasted="true">The Pasadena Water and Power Department is looking to hire (2) two Apprentice Electrical Distribution Mechanics for the Transmission and Distribution section of the Power Delivery Division.</p><p data-start="178" data-end="562" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">Under the direct supervision of journey-level and higher classifications, Apprentices will learn to construct and maintain underground and overhead power transmission and distribution lines. This position requires completion of the training and experience standards established by the State of California Department of Apprenticeship Standards, the I.B.E.W., and the City of Pasadena.</p><p>IDEAL CANDIDATE</p><p>The ideal candidate(s) will be dependable and show up to work ready to learn and accept constructive feedback to develop the knowledge and skills to become a journey-level Electrical Distribution Mechanic, while also demonstrating a clear understanding of the importance of safety and diligence in adhering to relevant safety regulations at all times. The candidate assessment provides insight into core interpersonal skills, behavioral traits, and preferred work environment—helping us support your success in the role.</span></p><p>VACANCY INFORMATION</p><p>There are currently (2) two vacancies in the Power Delivery Division of the Water & Power Department.</p><p>The resulting eligibility list from this recruitment may be used to fill this vacancy and similar vacancies in the future.</p><p data-pasted="true">Probationary work test period is continuous throughout the period of apprenticeship.</p><br>An Apprentice Electrical Distribution Mechanic participates in an Apprenticeship Program recognized by the State of California Department of Apprenticeship Standards, the I.B.E.W. and the City of Pasadena, and also participates in a cross-training program of coursework provided by Pasadena Water and Power or a Pasadena sponsored educational Institution. Employees in this classification are required to attend class in addition to working 40 hours per week.<br><br>Candidates for this classification must be at least 18 years of age. An Apprentice Electrical Distribution Mechanic is subject to emergency callouts 24 hours a day and therefore must have a telephone.<br><br>Must possess a valid California Class A driver's license and comply with the City's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy during the course of employment. Applicants who have a valid California Class C license at time of appointment must obtain a valid California Class A driver's license within 8 months of appointment. A crane certification may be required based on job assignment.<br><br>Possession of valid Class A California driver's license and a Telephone is a condition of continued employment along with a satisfactory driving record.<br><br>Annual Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), and Asbestos Abatement certification also required as a condition of continuous employment.
