We are looking for an Artist Manager to support our talent across Netflix Animation Studio. Artist Managers guide and support talent through an inclusive and meaningful experience. Artist Managers partner with our productions to make sure they are appropriately staffed through all phases of production and that teams have the skills and experience to achieve studio goals. Through active partnership with cross-functional teams, Artist Managers support artists and production talent in elevating their craft, transparency to career development opportunities and connect talent to our studio needs. The ideal candidate has a passion for Animation, experience working with artists and/or production talent and can bring a strong sense of Netflix culture and inclusivity to all talent joining our studio. Key to success is exceptional listening and communication skills, as well as an understanding of career pathways and production needs in Animation. Experience in production, development, talent support/recruiting is preferred. Roles & Responsibilities: Ensures the timely crewing and casting of internal talent to projects at Netflix Animation Studio (NAS) Partners with Productions, Talent Acquisition, Production Overhead and Content to understand short-term and long-term staffing needs of each project to leverage and optimize our internal talent base Facilitates regular connection moments with talent to develop deep knowledge of roles, responsibilities and development needs Identifies, develops and works with department leaders and Talent Development and Training to execute core and bespoke curriculum for talent and craft department Awareness of the holistic makeup of their department and is able to forecast future talent needs and identify ways to proactively solve them (ie recruiting, training courses, etc) Partner closely with HRBPs to manage and support Talent performance, coaching, studio culture and engagement. Establishes and maintains a culture of communication, candor and trust and works to build lasting relationships with all internal talent Encourages engagement and positive morale through regular department meetings and community building Curates diverse staffing recommendations with an intimate knowledge of artists’ experience, skill sets, and career aspirations; and partners with show leadership to cast the best talent for the show Identifies creative solutions and proactively solves staffing conflicts as resource or time constraints arise Partners with Talent Leadership & Compensation teams and provides compensation recommendations and facilitates offers & negotiations with talent Oversees the transition process for all talent, ensuring smooth and timely communication to talent, show and cross-functional partners Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 3-10 years experience in a relevant animation/vfx production capacity, knowledge of animation workflows, processes and artistic pipeline 3-5 years experience leading creative teams in Animation Artist Management, Production, Talent Acquisition and Management, a plus Understanding of the broader media business and ability to anticipate upcoming industry shifts and how that informs the artistic hiring and retention strategies Forward thinking experience in leading individuals and/or teams Passion to build for the future, courageously explore new ideas and challenge industry norms, and comfortable navigating ambiguity Experience in talent casting, recruiting, succession planning or organizational development, a plus Exceptional interpersonal, listening and communication skills Ability to effectively communicate and partner with creative leadership, content and production executives and cross-functional teams Ability to work within multiple project management tools in an ever evolving environment Experience in Google Suite, Adobe Suite, Airtable, and Microsoft Office necessary but not required This role is based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hybrid Role (Minimum of 3 days a week in the office). At NAS, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The overall market range for this role is typically $116k-183k CAD. This reflects total compensation; we do not have bonuses. NAS benefits can include medical/dental/vision plans, mental health support, retirement programs, Stock Option Program, and family-forming benefits, paid leave of absence programs, and paid time away programs to be used for vacation and sick paid time off.
