Position Title: Assistant Programme Manager Term of Employment: Full-time Reporting To: Programme Manager Reporting Location: Semporna Application deadline: 31 July 2025 **Overview**: Reef Check Malaysia is seeking an Assistant Programme Manager based in Semporna. The work will be mainly centred in the office in Semporna Town but regular travel around the islands in Semporna is required. Motivated individual with great passion for marine conservation and community development are encouraged to apply. **Job purpose**: As an Assistant Programme Manager, you will assist the implementation of our long-term marine conservation programme plan according to established Reef Check Malaysia practices and procedures, with the goal of establishing co-management to sustainably manage Semporna’s coral reefs and promoting sustainable tourism. The Assistant Programme Manager will also be expected to assist with the implementation of Reef Check Malaysia’s EcoAction, Science, Advocacy, and Management programmes in Malaysia. **Key responsibilities**: - Assist in managing budget and financial accounts for Semporna programmes. - Lead the implementation of Community Protocol at Larapan Island, which involves regular stakeholder consultations, including government officials. - Engage and consult with island communities to foster community involvement in Reef Check Malaysia’s project. - Support coral rehabilitation efforts across multiple islands in Semporna (Mabul, Kulapuan, Larapan, and Selakan Island) including data collection and management as well as reporting project’s progresses. - Contribute to the development of communication materials and implement awareness programs on marine conservation, targeting schools and local communities. - Participate in relevant field activities under Reef Check Malaysia, as required by the Programme Manager. **Profile**: - Proactive and able to work without supervision with good organisational skills - A good communicator, able to get on with others and be a team player - A strong sense of responsibility and accountability **Requirements**: - Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a related discipline - Certified SCUBA diver with preferably minimum PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent - Excellent written and verbal communication in Bahasa Malaysia and English - Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) software - Minimum 2 years’ working experience in marine conservation or related position, but fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply Pay: Up to RM3,500.00 per month **Benefits**: - Health insurance - Maternity leave - Professional development Ability to commute/relocate: - Semporna: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required) **Language**: - Bahasa Melayu (required) License/Certification: - scuba diving license (preferred) Work Location: In person Application Deadline: 07/31/2025 Expected Start Date: 08/11/2025
