We are looking for a dedicated and professional individual to join our team as a Credit Union Universal Associate. In this multi-faceted role, you will be the face of the credit union, delivering exceptional service while managing a wide range of financial transactions and loan processes. Your goal is to foster member growth, ensure operational excellence, and uphold the positive reputation of our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Member Experience: Interact with current and prospective members in person, via phone or email. Provide professional service that reflects a positive image of the credit union and promotes a collaborative office environment.
  • Membership Growth: Determine membership eligibility based on established guidelines and guide prospective members through the onboarding process.
  • Financial Transactions: Efficiently process member transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers and check cashing, account verifications, cash ordering and daily balancing.
  • Loan Assistance & Processing: Assist members with loan applications and conduct interviews to gather necessary documentation. Perform preliminary processing, including credit report reviews and debt-to-income (DTI) analysis, to provide approval or denial recommendations.
  • Loan Servicing & Collections: Receive and verify mortgage and loan payments. Manage late or delinquent accounts by performing follow-up calls, maintaining accurate records, and optimizing collections while preserving member goodwill.
  • Operational Support: Generate operational reports and provide backup coverage for the team during absences or high-volume periods.
  • Business Development: Proactively cross-sell credit union products and services to meet member needs and support organizational growth.
  • Communication: Keep management fully informed of critical operational issues and maintain compliance with legal notices, such as garnishments or account restraints.
  • Collaboration in the office is required.

  • Problem Solving: Proficiency in inductive reasoning, problem sensitivity, and information comprehension to resolve issues under pressure.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Focus: Ability to maintain concentration during prolonged periods of sitting and desk-based computer work.
  • Dexterity: Sufficient finger dexterity for repetitive motions (typing/data entry) and the ability to see and read text on various screens and paper documents.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds and participate in normal office conversations.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in credit union operations or lending is a plus.
  • Preferred delinquency, recovery and/or loan experience.

Additional eligibility requirements
  • Must be authorized for work in the United States, and the banking & financial sector and bondable.
Travel required
May travel 1 to 3 times per year to off site events promoting the credit union.
