# Unison Group — Database Administrator (Govt. Sector) ## Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage and support mission-critical databases in a secure and regulated environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in government projects or similar regulated sectors, ensuring robust security, compliance, and optimized performance across database systems. This position is on-site in Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. ### What you'll handle day-to-day You will provision and manage databases with the required licenses and put in place data security, access controls, and recovery measures that comply with security policies. Monitoring database health, performance, user access, and security standards will be part of your routine, and you will optimize database parameters to improve system performance and scalability. You will also implement configuration management and automate disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity, while supporting systems that require high usability alongside stringent security requirements. ### Experience, education and technical knowledge we expect We ask for a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines. A passion for automation, standardization, and adopting best practices is important. Relevant IT experience in database administration, preferably in government sector projects, is required. Practical experience in troubleshooting database and server performance issues is necessary. Hands-on expertise should include: - Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB - Core DBA Tasks: Database management, security administration, SQL programming, performance tuning, and scalability - High Availability & DR: Designing and implementing HA and Disaster Recovery strategies Professional certifications in databases and/or security are preferred. Exposure to cloud technologies such as AWS RDS or similar platforms is advantageous. We are looking for someone who can balance high usability and strong security requirements, automate and standardize processes, and apply practical troubleshooting skills within government or similarly regulated projects.
