The Data Center Infrastructure Construction team at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art data center facilities at scale and at pace. This team comprises experienced project managers, commissioning experts, and construction specialists who work collaboratively to ensure the successful execution of complex data center construction projects. We are seeking an experienced Director Data Center Construction to lead a team overseeing the construction of data centers performed by colocation providers. This role is critical in ensuring that projects are managed effectively to meet schedule, quality, and design requirements.

Strategically, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive plans that optimize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and operational excellence in delivery. You will engage with key stakeholders, manage high-stakes vendor relationships, and navigate the complexities of regulatory compliance. Your ability to anticipate and mitigate risks will be crucial in maintaining project timelines and budgets. By staying ahead of industry trends and incorporating cutting-edge technologies, you will ensure our data centers are not only state-of-the-art but also future proof. Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Review and understand complex data center construction projects that are being constructed by colocation lease providers. Analyze the projects for risk profiles and work with colocation providers to mitigate.
  2. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term standards and strategies for data center colocation construction projects delivery certainty to align with organizational goals.
  3. This team’s role will focus on the base building and MEP infrastructure portions of the project in addition to executing the tenant fit out data hall white space projects. 
  4. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  5. Project Oversight: Lead and manage the construction oversight efforts of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  6. Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
  7. Risk Evaluation: analyze projects independently to evaluate the risk profiles associated with timely delivery, address gaps in risk identification and mitigation and inform the business of associated potential impacts.
  8. Tenant Fit Out Integration: Work closely throughout design, construction, and commissioning to fully coordinate and integrate the tenant fit out projects with the teams leading these efforts.
  9. Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
  10. Design Coordination: Collaborate with design teams to ensure that construction activities align with the approved design plans and specifications.
  11. Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and colocation providers, facilitating clear and effective communication.
  12. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  13. Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
  14. Provide ongoing colocation Provider evaluation input for continuous improvement 
  15. Regular project visits to ensure schedule, coordination, and quality will be required throughout the life of the project on a regular basis.
  16. Innovation and Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance data center performance and sustainability.
