Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly meticulous and dedicated Health Information Records Technician to join our growing remote team. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, retrieve, and store patient health records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of health information by conducting regular audits and updates.
  • Process requests for health information, ensuring compliance with privacy legislation (e.g., PHIPA, FIPPA) and organizational guidelines.
  • Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems for data entry, retrieval, and management.
  • Categorize and code medical data using standard classification systems (e.g., ICD-10-CA, CCI) as required.
  • Collaborate remotely with healthcare professionals and administrative staff to resolve data discrepancies and ensure smooth information flow.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of health information management processes and policies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Diploma or Certificate in Health Information Management (HIM) or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in health records management, preferably in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Proficiency in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Thorough understanding of provincial (PHIPA) and federal privacy legislation related to health information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification by the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA), e.g., Certified in Health Information Management (CHIM).
