Role Description The Media Planning Supervisor is a self-starter with a roll-up-sleeves mentality and a proven track record of success. The Media Planning Supervisor is responsible for building and executing integrated media plans as well as managing and overseeing a team of Media Planners and Junior Media Planners. The Media Planning Supervisor must be able to showcase innovative thinking, strategy and a firm understanding of the media landscape to build multi-channel paid media campaigns, including broadcast, digital, social, and out-of-home. Knowing the role of media continues to evolve, we are looking for media professionals who want to work in an environment which embraces change. The Media Planning Supervisor must possess a strong ability to learn, operate, and make timely decisions in an ambiguous, fast-paced agency environment, be detail-oriented with solid organizational skills and multitasking abilities and deliver best-in-class media solutions that employ integrated thinking and ideas. This position is Texas-based. Dallas & Houston preferred, open to remote from Texas. Responsibilities • Display a superior understanding of media fundamentals including experience and interest across digital, social and traditional media planning. • Demonstrate ability to drive strategy, develop and execute plans against business objectives. • Manage and supervise Media Planners and Junior Media Planners through all phases of the media planning process from market analysis to media plan recommendations to flawless execution. • Effectively coach and develop others including direct report Media Planners and Junior Media Planners. • Lead delegation of work effectively to team members, as well as deliver seamless work to clients. • Train direct reports in media and marketing disciplines as well as the specifics of the Client's business and industry. • Develop and consistently track Individual Development Plans for Media Planner and Junior Media Planner direct reports. • Complete performance reviews for direct reports in accordance with agency guidelines and standards. • Keep abreast of media industry trends and technologies to share and present regularly with direct reports and other team members. • Assist the Associate Media Director and Group Media Director on the development of the overarching media strategy for the account and presentation of those strategies to be used by all media planning members on the account. • Proactively seek, develop and collaborate on new and innovative media solutions. • Prepare and present recommendations internally and to clients at all levels. • Provide new ideas to contribute to growth of both client and agency’s business. • Exhibit superior leadership with all buying teams and leverage those buying teams (Broadcast, Digital, Out of Home) as thought partners in building the overall strategy. • Ensure all media plans are executed among the buying teams to the highest level while adhering to established media budgets and timelines including those media plans led by direct reports. • Troubleshoot with media buyers and accounting to resolve any media billing issues. • Act as a leader in media budget tracking, clearing of invoices and ensuring it is reconciled on a quarterly basis. • Work in an integrated way and build a strong rapport with other disciplines, including brand management, planning and strategy. • Travel to meetings with client or reps as necessary. Team Communication • Embrace One Team mentality, easily adjusting to personality styles of diverse team members. • Confidently handle the most difficult situations, promoting positive results while encouraging team members to do the same. • Contribute to the communication & sharing across all teams, building credibility among internal and external partners. • Attend weekly staff meeting, contribute to the communication & sharing with team. General Duties • Actively participate in media training and retains expert knowledge and understanding. • Foster a positive attitude among direct reports, fellow media and agency associates. • Manage all projects on time and on budget. • Adhere to all company policies and demonstrate a commitment to company values. • Know and follow internal processes – able to teach others the processes and identify and lead opportunities to improve internal processes. • Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize, plan and organize daily tasks. Must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment. • Mentor and develop direct reports including Media Planners and Junior Media Planners. • Assist with other agency projects, as requested. • Uphold our agency values: Humanity, Diversity, Integrity, Tenacity, Curiosity. Qualifications • 3-5 years media planning experience, Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. • Prior supervisory experience. • Strong presentation and communication ability internally and externally. • Strong analytical abilities. • Solid grasp of media landscape, understanding of how paid, owned, and earned media intersect and the ability to identify when to engage certain channels to support client’s goals and objectives. • High technical aptitude for learning and working within desktop and web-based buying applications (arenaflex Office, Mediatools/Workhorse and Mediaocean).
