About Ledger Labs Ledger Labs is a U.S.-based accounting firm with over a decade of experience providing Virtual CFO and tax services to e-commerce, real estate, and professional service clients nationwide. We operate entirely remotely and emphasize accuracy, communication, and well-structured workflows over volume or long hours. We are expanding our tax department and are looking for a licensed CPA who has direct experience signing, filing, and performing final review of tax returns. Position Overview This role is responsible for overseeing the full tax compliance cycle — from review through signature and e-filing — for a defined group of clients. You’ll work closely with our internal team to ensure every return meets professional and regulatory standards before submission. This position is remote, full-time, and structured for consistency — no mandatory overtime or weekend hours, even during filing season. Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance & Review • Review, sign, and e-file federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations. • Verify accuracy and completeness of workpapers and supporting documentation. • Provide technical review and feedback to preparers before returns move to final stage. • Maintain compliance with IRS and state regulations; manage extensions and filing deadlines. Client Interaction • Communicate with team members to answer clients on missing information, review comments, and filing status. • Coordinate responses to tax notices or correspondence with taxing authorities. • Deliver practical recommendations to improve client recordkeeping and compliance readiness. Process Management • Track return status, due dates, and quality-control steps within firm systems. • Contribute to workflow improvements as the department expands. • Maintain documentation supporting every return signed and filed. Required Qualifications • Active U.S. CPA license (required). • At least 5 years of public accounting experience preparing, reviewing, and filing individual and business returns. • Demonstrated experience signing and e-filing returns under your own credentials. • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and Drake preferred. • High attention to detail, clear communication skills, and consistent follow-through. • Experience with e-commerce, real estate, or multi-state clients is a plus.
