What the role is:

The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and support the Home Team Departments (HTD) operations in maintaining order and enhancing security for Singapore. As our Lead Engineer / Engineer working in Vehicle and Weapon Systems, you will be spearheading the capability development of Command and Control (C2) systems, and smart technologies for networked vehicle and weapon systems. In addition, you will be leading and providing engineering and technical solutions to ensure that the C2 systems, weapon systems, and network architectures developed by HTX are optimally designed, integrated and interoperable with new and existing platforms and Information Communication Technology (ICT) systems. You are expected to explore new technical solutions, in areas such as data-centric architectures, Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration and man-unmanned teaming, formulate support concepts and governance frameworks to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions to ensure continued mission success for HTD operations. You are a technical expert who is also passionate to lead and bring C2 and networked vehicle and weapon systems capability development to new heights to augment HTD missions. Reporting to the Head (Vehicle and Weapon Network Systems), the job holder will exploit new capabilities and technologies to integrate them with C2 and networked vehicle/weapon systems to develop advanced solutions of high performance while meeting safety requirements.

What you will be working on:

Conceptualise innovative solutions using design thinking techniques, which incorporate smart technologies such as sensors/IoT, unmanned systems and information technology. Exploit emerging technologies including AI and Big Data through experimentation and evaluation to develop operational systems with future-ready capabilities such as optimised resource planning, automated decision-making, and adaptive force deployment. Initiate C2 and networked vehicle/weapon system projects including prototyping with incorporation of new technological capabilities, develop system architecture and perform system evaluation to seamlessly integrate vehicle/weapon systems with sensors and C2 systems onboard various platforms. Formulate technical specifications, lead design reviews and project meetings, review test plans & procedures and conduct Factory Acceptance, Installation, Checkout, Integration & Verification Testing activities for C2 and networked systems. Perform software and system safety assessment of networked vehicle/weapons systems. Continuous upgrading and acquiring knowledge of new technologies in C2 and network systems development.

What we are looking for:

Good honours degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Communications, Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, preferably with background or experience working on weapon systems or vehicle technologies. Proficiency in Digital Signal Processing, Computer Networking, Robotics, AI, Wireless Communications, and Systems Integration would be advantageous. Knowledge in formulating trial plans, statistics, and system performance verification methodologies would be beneficial. Innovative mindset with willingness to acquire new skills and adapt to emerging technologies. Dynamic personality with strong interpersonal skills and self-motivated approach to work. Demonstrated project management capabilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Proactive problem-solving approach with initiative to address operational challenges independently. *** All new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
