Supports and/or contributes to planning transportation needs for the efficient movement of volume in an effort to maximize capacity, minimize partial trailer loads and ensure service integrity for assigned areas. Directs the dispatch of transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with other FedEx field operations to efficiently and effectively plan both contractor and equipment needs to ensure sufficient coverage for trailer movements.
  • Coordinates and tracks the processing and movement of FedEx trailers, rental equipment, new trailers, and dollies in the FedEx network.
  • Manages locally domiciled Unassigned Team logistics throughout the LH network to maximize the use of resources as well as minimize the tractor dwell.
  • In accordance with the Linehaul plan, directs the dispatch of transportation equipment.
  • Ensures Linehaul dispatch and arrival rules are followed according to defined Company procedures.
  • Coordinates cargo shipments to maximize the trailer volume while meeting package delivery obligations.
  • Enters trip details into an online system (TMS) to ensure on time delivery and pick up of trailers.
  • Verifies the location of equipment in the dispatch system by completing yard inventories.
  • Verifies the load/unload status of trailers by completing yard checks. Timely reports missing equipment.
  • Follows and communicates safety initiatives to ensure a safety-conscious culture.
  • Investigates and reports schedule delays, accidents and equipment failures and implements contingency plans which ensure on-time load delivery in the event of an en-route breakdown or accident .
  • Reviews and communicates Department of Transportation (DOT) roadside violations to management.
  • Coordinates with the Safety and Maintenance departments to monitor the monthly tractor safety inspections and ensure annual certificates are obtained in compliance with the DOT.
  • Reviews trailer load condition reports (TLCR's ) to ensure proper completion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Business or related area, preferred

Minimum Experience

  • Dispatch experience preferred

  • Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced team environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with various audiences. Ability to work productively in team environment and effectively implement operational processes
  • Knowledge of concepts, practices, procedures and transportation regulations used in Linehaul field operations, including DOT regulations
  • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications

Actual pay is determined by several job-related factors permitted by law and relevant to the position, including, but not limited to, experience relative to the job, tenure, market level, pay at the location for this job, performance, schedule, and work assignment.

Pay: $20.35 - $34.97 per hour
