This role will be a member of the region leadership team and responsible for the health of 50,000 sows and their offspring. Will possess the ability to interpret and respond to production limiting diseases by developing, training, and executing effective strategies to support the profitability of the region while working collaboratively with the JBS vet team <br /><br />JBS offers a competitive pay, benefits package, 401K, and bonus opportunities!<br /><br />Essential Job Functions:<br /><br />(order of essential job functions does not indicate ranking of importance)<br /><br />Investigate, assess, formulate, and present solutions to address health issues<br /><br />Provide visit summaries and recommendations to the production team<br /><br />Conduct routine health checks<br /><br />Implement treatment and vaccination strategies<br /><br />Ensure regulatory compliance<br /><br />Diagnostic testing and interpretation of results<br /><br />Build and maintain effective relationships with consulting veterinarians and industry partners.<br /><br />Biosecurity compliance monitoring<br /><br />Maintain VCPR with production locations<br /><br />Schedule and conduct health related technical training such as postmortem labs, biosecurity training, and vaccination training<br /><br />Stay current on the latest industry developments, research and industry best practices<br /><br />Participate on various internal teams to provide guidance on industry requirements.<br /><br />All Other Duties as Assigned.<br /><br />Required Qualifications:<br /><br />DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) from an accredited school<br /><br />Eligible for veterinary licensure and USDA accreditation in Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois.<br /><br />Competent in management of swine diseases and a working knowledge of farrow to finish management.<br /><br />Must be able to work well in group settings and independently.<br /><br />Excellent communication skills.<br /><br />On farm activities are expected multiple days per week.<br /><br />Working Conditions/Environment:<br /><br />General: Both climate-controlled office and environmentally controlled confined livestock facilities.<br /><br />During farm visits one may encounter dust, odors and other hazardous conditions<br /><br />During summer months outside temperatures can be over 100 degrees for the entire scheduled workday.<br /><br />During winter months outside temperatures can be below zero for the entire scheduled workday.<br /><br />Exposure to various elements inherent with Agriculture production.<br /><br />While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
