Work Hours: This position may require various shifts at various times (including weekends)

Duties: The following list of duties is a guideline of possible duties to be performed independently or as a group of duties in the course of working with the client. The RN’s duties are not limited to those listed.

  • Establishes and maintains communication with each participant’s private physician
  • Provides emergency and ongoing medical care to participants
  • Assists the Program/RN Health Director in the development and ongoing review of the participant’s plan of care
  • Administers physician ordered medications and treatments
  • Provides ongoing assessment of each participant’s physical and psychosocial status
  • Documents at least monthly in participant records. Examples of documentation include, but are not limited to, observations of the health and functional status of participants, incidents, conversations with physician or family members/legal representatives, and similar information, in accordance with accepted standards under the Maryland Nurse Practice Act.
  • Assists the Program Director and Nursing Director in the supervision of program assistants as they perform personal care responsibilities
  • Provides counseling to participants and caregivers regarding health related issues
  • Assists in the provision of educational programs to participants, caregivers, staff and volunteers
  • Maintains regular contact with caregivers to discuss participant process and changes in functioning
  • Assists, as necessary, in the delivery of other required program services
  • May assist in developing and amending health policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Current certificate in standard first aid and CPR.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Degree program with a current, unencumbered, active RN license in the state of Maryland
  • Able to supervise (instruct, assign work, etc) Nursing Assistants, LPN’s, and LVN’s.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Compassionate, patient and caring nature.
  • Must be physically and mentally fit to handle the demands of caregiving.

Ability to commute/relocate: Beltsville 20705: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
