The Associate General Counsel, Employment will serve as the lead advisor on employment matters, managing litigation and providing strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders. Responsibilities • Advise on a variety of labor and employment law matters, including employee relations, wage and hour, compensation and benefits, performance management, disciplinary actions, leaves and accommodations, recruiting, restrictive covenants and contingent workers • Partner with our People Team to support day-to-day employee lifecycle matters • Draft, review and update employment related policies and agreements, including our employee handbook and our variable compensation plans • Support global employment matters in France, India, the United Kingdom, and manage contingent worker matters hired through PEOs with assistance from local counsel • Evaluate and scale current employment processes • Support workplace investigations and disputes • Actively monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to employment issues and provide proactive, strategic advice to the relevant stakeholders as necessary • Support employment compliance matters • Prepare and provide training on various employment law matters to internal stakeholders • Provide employment law support for corporate transactions Skills • Must have a J.D. from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing with the state bar association (CA, NY preferred) • 10+ years of labor and employment experience, including in-house experience • Deep expertise in CA labor and employment law, as well as demonstrated knowledge of other jurisdictions • Demonstrated judgment, personal integrity, discretion regarding confidential matters, and interpersonal skills • Ability to independently research and advise on complex legal questions as the company's sole labor and employment attorney • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to identify risk and simplify complex legal issues for the business in a clear and concise manner • Experience in advising on variable compensation plans, pay equity and pay transparency matters, and wage and hour compliance, including job classifications and payroll compliance • Experience in advising on workforce change strategies including reorganizations, reductions in team and WARN compliance • Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, balance competing priorities, and manage several time-sensitive projects at once Benefits • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance • Flexible time off and holidays • 401(k) with company match • Disability insurance and life insurance • Leaves of absence in accordance with applicable state and local laws and regulations and company policy • Paid time off for vacation, sickness, holiday, and bereavement • 100% company-paid life insurance and long-term disability insurance Company Overview • Komodo Health is an IT firm that specializes in data engineering, life sciences, artificial intelligence, and machine intelligence services.
