As a Senior Capability Manager for Benefits, you will oversee the development and optimization of organizational capabilities across various departments while executing strategic initiatives to achieve the organization's goals.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and document capabilities in Aha
  • Define project scope and objectives
  • Lead the implementation of programs and initiatives to develop and enhance key benefit capabilities within the organization
  • Actively participate in a broader team of business and operational leaders, architects, and engineers to reimagine the end-to-end benefit ecosystem
  • Identify and evaluate non-traditional and innovative approaches to benefit capability delivery
  • Support the prioritization of a backlog and roadmap of high-impact work, clearly articulating the business impacts of each initiative
  • Provide leadership to multiple layers of management, subject matter experts, business partners, and senior-level experts to achieve results
  • Proactively partner with stakeholders to understand their benefit capability needs and plan new builds or enhancements accordingly
  • Regularly gather and analyze feedback from end-users, stakeholders, and operational partners to identify improvement opportunities
  • Provide subject matter expertise on benefit capability definition and delivery
  • Think boldly and disruptively, challenging others to adopt a forward-looking perspective that drives transformation
  • Operate independently, handling less structured and more complex issues
  • Serve as a resource to others within the organization

Skills

  • 3+ years of experience working with healthcare benefits in areas such as operations, delivery, strategy, planning, or technology
  • MBA in Healthcare Administration
  • 2+ years of experience using agile development methodologies such as SAFe, LeSS, PI Planning, story-mapping, persona development, and design sprints
  • Experience managing people, either directly or in a matrixed environment
  • Comfortable with technology-related terminology, architectures, development approaches, and strategies, enabling effective communication with engineering and architecture leaders (no development experience required)
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment and influence others
  • Comfortable interacting with internal and external customers and users at all levels
  • Skilled in telling compelling stories, preparing presentations, and presenting to groups of up to twenty people, both in person and virtually
  • Intermediate proficiency with Visio, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to visualize desired outcomes and effectively communicate the necessary steps to achieve goals
  • Have previously worked or is currently working as a contractor placed at UHG or one of its subsidiaries or affiliates
  • Agile Certification: Certification as an Agile Product Owner or Agile Leader
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, including gathering requirements for enhancements, interfaces, and data mapping. Proficient in using requirements gathering tools and processes and capturing business/interface workflows
  • 5+ years of experience in producing and executing Business User Acceptance Test scripts derived from process gap analysis, business data mapping definitions, and business requirement definitions
  • 3+ years of experience in the health insurance industry
  • 2+ years of experience working with advanced benefit capabilities and techniques in any business setting
  • Proficiency in using Aha! road-mapping software, Rally, or other Agile tools
  • Formal training in product management
  • Familiarity with one or more UHG claims platforms or commercially available claims platforms
