Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. HII's Mission Technologies Division is seeking a motivated Cloud Engineer to join their IT Engineering team. The role involves designing, securing, and automating cloud strategies, while collaborating with various business units to drive solutions and mitigate risks in cloud systems. Responsibilities • Builds, designs, implements and refines AWS GovCloud and Azure GCC-H architectures and provides prescriptive guidance across the network and security • Collaborates with functional business units to drive business solutions and direction, to lead early scoping definition and to identify critical dependencies and requirements • Identifies and mitigates technological and operational risks and develops solutions to support processes • Develops and documents architecture for integration and implementation of cloud systems • Understands and determines sizing, capacity planning and requirements for infrastructure, network, and security in the cloud • Guides the successful completion of major programs or initiatives and may function in a project leadership role • Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations • Provide world class customer support for both IaaS and SaaS HII Mission Tech consumers • Participate in the technology strategy, vision, requirements, and solutions for enterprise cloud initiatives • Employ a security first approach to all cloud development and minimalize risk while providing highly complex cloud technology solutions that meets company, program and customer compliance requirements (e.g. CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, SOX) • Conduct research and develop Proof of Concepts (POCs) of new technologies to determine best fit in the HII IT Engineering environment • Optimize HII Mission Tech architecture and operations by evaluating and analyzing multiple complex data sources associated with systems, performance, issues, arenaflex and compliance to improve overall services and capabilities • Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and capabilities and provide recommendations to management and customers • Work in an Agile SDLC and collaborate with remote teams to implement Continuous Delivery of HII Mission Tech tooling and automation scripts Skills • Security Clearance: No clearance required at start but could be processed for a clearance in the future; U.S. Citizenship required • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience • Previous experience and proficiency working with remote teams • Previous experience and proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts (Terraform) • Previous experience and proficiency with automated configuration management and compliance (Ansible Automation Platform, Salt) • Previous experience and proficiency with AWS and Azure cloud service providers • Previous experience and proficiency with at least one scripting/programming language (Bash, PowerShell, Python) • Previous experience and proficiency with version control systems (Git) • Previous experience and proficiency with Windows Server, RHEL and Ubuntu • Previous experience working with an agile team • Previous experience working with Identity Management Systems (Active Directory, Okta, Entra, IAM) • Previous experience with containerization (Docker, Podman) • Previous experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (arenaflex/CD) tooling • Understanding of NIST 800-171 & CMMC • Certifications in Azure and/or AWS are a plus • In-depth knowledge of Atlassian suite considered a plus (Jira, Confluence) • In-depth knowledge of Gitlab considered a plus • In-depth knowledge of cloud networking • Experience with Palo Alto NGFW • Experience with Splunk SIEM • Experience with Tenable • Experience with container orchestration systems also a plus (Kubernetes) Benefits • Best-in-class medical, dental and vision plan choices • Wellness resources • Employee assistance programs • Savings Plan Options (401(k)) • Financial planning tools • Life insurance • Employee discounts • Paid holidays • Paid time off • Tuition reimbursement • Early childhood and post-secondary education scholarships Company Overview • HII’s Mission Technologies division develops integrated solutions that enable today’s connected, all-domain force.
