BDO USA is a leading accounting and advisory organization, and they are seeking a Senior Manager for their Industry Specialty Services team. This role involves maintaining client relationships, providing support in government contracting compliance, and supervising team members while ensuring project objectives are met.


Responsibilities

  • Provides clients with technical advice as it pertains to various matters of government contract compliance including indirect cost rates, cost allowability, Cost Accounting Standard (CAS) and other compliance requirements
  • Assumes responsibility for all project phases and works directly with clients to accomplish project objectives
  • Provides direct and indirect cost rate structure design and analysis (including preparation of a comprehensive forward pricing model)
  • Supports government contractors during the bidding process through cost and price volume development, analysis of RFPs and cost narrative preparation
  • Interprets Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) requirements in order to make recommendations to clients
  • Prepares client Disclosure Statements
  • Supports other types of compliance needs related to procurement, contract, human resources, and other business processes
  • Serves as a technical expert for client questions as they arise
  • Often operates as the primary point of contact with support from principals where needed
  • Assists principals in qualifying opportunities and scoping engagements
  • Aids in firm development activities and other marketing initiatives including but not limited to, attending conferences, networking, developing internal and external practice development opportunities and identifying cross servicing opportunities
  • Other duties as required
  • Supervises, develops, and trains associates, senior associates and managers
  • Reviews and evaluates work prepared by associates, senior associates and managers
  • Trains associates and senior associates on how to use current software tools and Industry Specialty Services methodology
  • Provides verbal and written performance feedback to associates, senior associates, and managers
  • Acts as Career Advisor to associates, senior associates, and managers

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree, required; with a focus in Accounting or Finance, required
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience conducting cost analysis, cost estimates, and proposals, required
  • Prior experience addressing Federal procurement issues on behalf of government contractors, required
  • Prior experience supporting indirect rates, cost allowability and allocability matters, FAR 31/CAS compliance, required
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically business / report writing
  • Strong analytical and basic research skills
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong knowledge of FAR, CAS, and GSA schedules
  • Ability to follow and apply specific rules and regulations
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Prior experience with HHS (Health and Human Services) and DOD (Department of Defense) contracts, preferred
  • CPA or CFE, preferred
