The Sr. Sales Director, Life Science Research will be responsible for driving revenue and profitability for the North America Microscopy group, leading a team of sales professionals, and developing strategic business plans to optimize market share and profitability.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic business plans with the goal of driving growth and improving financial performance
  • Build, develop and lead a large team of Sales professionals; Coach and guide both leaders and individual contributors; Advance individual and team capabilities and motivate team members to strive for continuous improvement and organizational excellence
  • Drive development of a customer-centric strategic business plan that optimizes market share and profitability of existing products while developing commercial plans for new products consistent with division and corporate objectives
  • Achieve annual revenue and profitability plans for the business unit
  • Optimize the sales organization with focus on partnership, accountability and performance
  • Lead the active and productive interface between Marketing, Sales, Service, R&D, Manufacturing and Finance
  • Ensure 100% compliance with DHR and Leica compliance and integrity guidelines

Skills

  • Minimum of 15 years of increasing responsibility within the life science research, medical, clinical diagnostic, software markets, or related scientific products segment in a variety of service/ marketing/sales positions to include: sales management, product/marketing management, customer service, strategic planning, new business development, market research, etc
  • A record of growing the top line and the bottom line of a related business
  • A demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking/planning as well as tactical implementation. Will have successfully designed and executed such plans within the life science research / clinical diagnostic / medical markets
  • Successful track record of effective communication and teaming at a multicultural, global organization with demonstrated results in new product development, sales/profitability increases and market share gains
  • Leader of leaders' experience with a demonstrated capability in the leadership, selection, development, training, and management of sales and marketing leaders and professionals. Understands the role of the sales function and how to implement the plan through it. The successful candidate will have a reputation as a strong leader, an excellent communicator and a superb developer of management talent
  • Familiarity of how the philosophies and practices of large companies (Danaher) interface and contribute to those of smaller semi-autonomous companies
  • A four-year scientific degree is required with an MBA preferred
  • Ability to travel – Up to 30%
  • Microscopy experience would be beneficial but is not mandatory
  • Domain knowledge in Research Microscopy, Spatial Biology as well as selling to Academia and Biotech is highly desirable
