Overview Windows 365 Cloud PC (W365) and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) are recognized leaders in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Desktop as a Service (DaaS). The Windows Cloud team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help advance the Windows Cloud platform and elevate the Windows 365 Cloud PC and Azure Virtual Desktop offerings. In this role, you will: • Design and implement platform capabilities for virtualized compute, storage, networking, graphics processing units (GPUs), and streaming protocols such as Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). • Build software components to optimize connectivity, telemetry infrastructure, and user-facing features that enable monitoring and troubleshooting of network traffic for desktop remoting. • Collaborate with engineering and support teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance customer value. Responsibilities • Collaborate with stakeholders to define user requirements for scenarios. • Identify dependencies and create design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms. • Develop, optimize, debug, and refactor code to improve performance, maintainability, and effectiveness. • Apply subject-matter expertise to product features and partner with stakeholders (e.g., project managers) to drive project plans, release plans, and work items. • Serve as Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to monitor systems for degradation, downtime, or interruptions; alert stakeholders and initiate restoration actions for simple and complex issues. Mentor engineers by sharing best practices and playbook guidance. • Proactively learn and adopt emerging technologies, patterns, and solutions to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale. • Embody our Culture and Values Qualifications Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of software engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python • OR equivalent experience Other Requirements: Ability to meet arenaflex, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: • arenaflex Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the arenaflex Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications • Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python; OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience coding in these languages; OR equivalent experience. • 3+ years designing, implementing, and troubleshooting cloud-based services and solutions • Development experience with arenaflex Azure Cloud. • Hands-on experience with Azure Resource APIs (e.g., Storage, EventHub, CosmosDB). • Experience deploying and monitoring Azure resource health, including alerting and diagnostics. • Experience designing and developing microservices at scale. Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
