The service manager is responsible for managing the Service Department, including maximizing internal and external customer satisfaction, growing profitable service labor sales, exercising disciplined expense control, attracting and retaining outstanding talent, and motivating and engaging employees to be the best in the business.

Job Function:
The Service Manager will manage service operations within the dealership to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize return on investment by optimizing service department processes. Grows profitable service labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Attracts, retains, and assists with the development of department personnel.

  • Lead and enforce service department processes to ensure customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

  • Own department performance, budgets, and goals aligned with company objectives.

  • Execute service marketing plans and coordinate customer events, clinics, and field days.

  • Oversee warranty and product program claims to ensure timely submission and maximum recovery.

  • Schedule, assign, and manage workloads based on technician skill sets and capacity.

  • Review work orders for accuracy, completeness, and proper billing.

  • Train, develop, and evaluate service personnel; ensure training compliance and certifications.

  • Manage fleet, tools, equipment, inventory, and shop organization.

  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and compliance with DOT and regulatory standards.

  • Stay current on John Deere and competitive products.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working in a service department; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred
  • Experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred
  • Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes
  • Experience with off road, construction, lawn, or other AG heavy equipment
  • Valid Drivers License and a safe driving record
