GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE The Skin Therapist (ST) is responsible for engaging guests in the prestige sales department and consulting with them on their skincare needs to recommend products and services. The ST delivers quality, professional skincare services with emphasis on the guest s total look. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty s skincare brands and the Skin Room/Pod/Bar, and support the Experience Manager (EM) through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service and associate culture), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires a valid license in Esthetics or Cosmetology (as required by state law), exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge to guests.

Responsibilities

  • Perform services in the Skin Room/Pod/Bar, including facials, waxing, ear piercing (where applicable) and makeup applications, as well as perform face fit express facials from a mobile station in the store.
  • Meet or exceed sales goals for skin services and skincare products and contribute to meeting or exceeding the store s goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), omni-channel, and retail shrink as set by Ulta Beauty.
  • Ensure that each guest receives exceptional service by providing a guest-friendly environment, which includes greeting and engaging every guest, personalizing service to their needs, and recommending/demonstrating appropriate products, samples, and services.
  • Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and the guest service experience.
  • Book guests appointments for initial services, return services, and events that deliver an unrivaled guest experience.
  • Take the initiative to stay informed regarding new and existing industry trends, products, and services during work time, and be knowledgeable about the ingredients and benefits of these trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
  • Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
  • Contribute to an inclusive environment that supports teammates, peers, and the internal and external guests served.
  • Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations.
  • Build and maintain an active clientele portfolio for the Skin Room/Pod/Bar.
  • Serve all guests, including walk-in guests, in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Establish professional peer and brand partner relationships that foster a shared interest in collaboratively delivering on sale and service goals for the Skin Room/Pod/Bar as set by Ulta Beauty.
  • Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, with guests on the salesfloor.
  • Regularly participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education, to enable continuous professional development and drive Skin Room/Pod/Bar sales performance.
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty s policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures before, during, and after services; always ensure compliance with state board guidelines.
  • Adhere to Ulta Beauty and Skin Room/Pod/Bar dress code, including wearing brand assets as directed.
  • Follow established service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
  • Adhere to tester standards for the Skin Room/Pod/Bar and Prestige department.
  • Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager in a timely manner to ensure guest-readiness at all times.
  • Maintain outstanding store operational standards, including cleanliness of the Skin Room/Pod/Bar, salesfloor, restrooms, cash wrap, backroom, break area, and any additional assigned area.
  • Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices and providing exceptional guest service.
  • Execute other operational tasks as directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma is preferred
  • Cosmetology or esthetics license where required by state law
  • Previous relevant work experience is preferred
  • Proficiency with latest salon techniques for performing facials, skin analysis, and skincare machines
  • Proficiency with latest techniques for performing facial waxing
  • Proficiency with latest techniques for performing makeup applications
  • Proficiency with use of equipment needed to perform technical work
  • Proficiency to demonstrate, recommend, and sell skin and makeup products
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and build clientele
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work a flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
