A full-time opportunity is available for experienced Teachers for the Visually Impaired in the New Orleans, LA area. This contract position provides valuable support to students requiring specialized instruction and services for visual impairments, working across multiple school sites within the district on an itinerant basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, tailored to their unique educational needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Provide orientation and mobility training, assistive technology guidance, and other specialized services to promote student independence
  • Maintain detailed records and monitor student progress in compliance with district and state regulations
  • Participate in professional development and district meetings as required

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education Certification in Teaching Visually Impaired Students (required)
  • Ability to pass district-mandated drug screening and fingerprinting
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and school staff

Position Details:

  • Location: New Orleans, LA area
  • Contract Duration: ASAP through May 22, 2026
  • Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week (MondayFriday), 7 hours daily with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, aligned to school calendar
  • Caseload and assigned schools will be determined upon placement
